THE SHORT SHORT STORY COMPETITION
Announcing an open call for the 2007 National Science Fiction Convention amateur short short story writing competition sponsored by the Australian Science Fiction Foundation. Cash prizes will be awarded and an additional award will also be offered to the best entry received from a young adult writer, 18 years or younger. The winners' entries will be published at some future date, either on this website at the author's discretion, or in another publication as appropriate. THEMEIn keeping with Convergence 2007, the competition theme for both the General and Under 18 categories is Young Adult Fiction – the person books built. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
* For the purposes of this competition an ‘amateur’ is any person who has never had a paid fiction sale. If a story you’ve written has been published without reimbursement, or if your only payment has been through receiving contributor copies, then you still qualify as amateur for this competition. Likewise, non-fiction sales don’t disqualify you as an amateur fiction writer. CLOSING DATE 8th May 2007WHAT TO SEND USDisposable manuscripts only. Submitted stories will have the writer’s name removed before judging.
